Child and adult group classes
Below is our current schedule for all martial arts classes. The schedule may change periodically. We are closed on most major holidays, and will message the primary phone we have on file for any emergency closures.
We will also post closures for bad weather and holidays. We are closed every Sunday.
Certain classes may be limited for insurance reasons. For example: all women's
self-defense classes and all Idaho State University classes are closed to the general public.
Personal training for fitness or martial arts can be scheduled at any time. Personal training with Coach John must occur outside of the group class schedule.
This class is ideal for the four- to seven-year-old range. The goal is to train young children on:
self-defense, coordination, footwork, strikes, team building and physical fitness. Children can try this class for free, however you must provide your own equipment upon joining which can be purchased through us or from wherever you choose. If a child is eight years or older, they would be considered for the Youth Program.
This class requires equipment upon joining:
This class is for the eight-year-old to the twelve-year-old (approximate.) Children will learn fitness and fundamental Muay Thai Kickboxing concepts on the heavy bags, and eventually work into partner (pad) training (see Intermediate Kickboxing.) Students will be allowed to progress at their own pace. Children interested in sparring may do so with parent and Instructor permission.
*NEW* - Phoenix Kickboxing will be introducing a ranking system for the kids program. This progression will work directly with the class structure, allowing children to be recognized for their effort, skill and improvement. More information to come!
This class will require additional equipment upon joining, such as:
This is a fundamentals class for teens and adults. You will be working on a heavy bag learning the basics of Muay Thai Kickboxing including: stance, punches, kicks, footwork and defense. You can try this class for free and borrow equipment during your trial period. However, you must provide your own equipment upon joining. You can purchase those through us or wherever you choose. Once you have mastered the basics and feel your conditioning is where you want it to be, you can move on to the Intermediate class.
After your trial, this class requires equipment upon joining:
This class is for those who have extensive experience in the Beginner Kickboxing (BKB.) Here you will work with a partner who will hold punching pads (focus mitts) or kicking targets (thai targets.) By working with another person, you will begin to learn how to interact with someone who can move arbitrarily, versus a stationary heavy bag. Your partner can call out patterns for you, or they can simulate an attack teaching you to defend. These combinations will teach you to react, thereby showing you how to deal with random events. All together this will increase your fitness level while also teaching you self-defense in a safe environment.
This class will require additional equipment upon joining, such as:
(For insurance reasons, we cannot offer a free trial for Pad Class. This option can only be available after completing a free trial in Bag Class.)
This class incorporates light contact. This is where members will take the skills they have developed in BKB and IKB and actually apply it. The goal is light-contact to show realistic use of your counter-striking and defensive skills as well as where your opportunities and openings are. This class will require additional equipment. (This new class will be added to the schedule once we have members who are qualified to join.)
(For insurance reasons, we cannot offer a free trial for Sparring Class. This option can only be available after completing a free trial in Bag Class and Pad Class.)
This class is where you will learn how to circumvent all the rules of sport and think realistically about a street altercation. Wing Chun, Kali, Silat and Muay Thai Kickboxing are all part of the curriculum. In addition to basic strikes (elbows, knees) you will develop proficiency on how to use an impact weapon and edged weapon, such as a stick or a knife. You will then progress on how to defend against these, and then ultimately incorporate more and more variables, such as environment and multiple opponents.
This class will require additional equipment upon joining, such as:
